Turning to photography as a creative outlet during a valiant fight with breast cancer at age 34, renaissance10 survived and set up a photo contest to help raise funds for the Lavender Trust, a nonprofit that provides information and support to younger women with breast cancer. In the first two years, the competition brought in over £65,000 (that's $107,260.73 U.S.!), with entries from 130 countries last year. Renaissance10 recently joined LiveJournal to meet other passionate photographers and find supportive friends.

| Ice Skating and In 'n Out |

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up in case you want to join.
Aftercon is having a meetup on Jan 9th. We will meet at the Aracdia Ice Rink in Phoenix for free skate from 7:30-9:30pm. Afterwards, we will head up to the In 'n Out near ASU (I'm assuming the one on Scottsdale Rd) for fun and to hang out longer. Any and everyone is welcome to come, this is an open event. Thought I would just let you know cause I will be attending this in lolita myself.
Hope to maybe see some of you there!

Hello. My name is Day (aka Duchess Day), I'm fifteen. It's a miracle I found this place. I was starting to think I was a one-woman-show in this world. It's hard, as everyone here knows, to exist in this society. My family nearly tied me down and scrubbed off my black lipstick when they found out I was goth. They told me I was headed straight for hell. But they didn't understand--no one seems to--that goth does not equal satan. Besides that fact, my brother blatantly pointed out to me "How can you be goth? You're black?That's not right." And everyone else seems to think that its a 'fad fashion statement'. No one gets that it's who I am. That I can't change. It's just me. No fad. But besides the depressing facts, this place is really cool and awesome. I adore the fact that it exists. A place for African American Lolita's to talk fashion, life and all thigs in between. I love it.

I just wanted to thank everybody who showed up to the holiday gathering this past saturday. I had so much fun. I hope everybody else did too. I didn't expect it to last that long. But man XD I will send out pictures to everybody when I get them uploaded. As well as the ones we all took at gameworks. I can't wait until the next time we get together again. ^-^

Has anyone visited RakuenFashion.com? (www.rakuenfashion.com) It's an excellent place to get Lolita dresses and parosols. A bit pricey though. About in the hundred fifty dollar range. But so worth it! This first dress is my junior prom dress. I know, the first one is more Gothic than Lolita, but they sell really Lolita dresses too. it's really awesome. I got the matching parosol too. All together it cost me about two hundred dollars--which isn't really much considering---but it's too cute to ignore! The site is really amazing with their stock. This is the second dress I've bought from them. the first one is below it, along with the parasol. It's cool, you should check it out.
